Justin Johnson was found guilty on all charges

At the end of a four-day trial, a jury found Justin Johnson guilty on all counts for his role in the fatal shooting of rapper Young Dolph in Memphis on November 17, 2021.

The verdict came about four hours after closing arguments concluded Thursday.

The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on each of the following charges:

During the three days of testimony, there were only prosecution witness statements. The defense did not call a single witness.

On the first day of the trial, the jury saw riveting testimony from Cornelius Smith, also charged in Thornton’s death. Smith admitted to shooting Thornton several times and said he didn’t know how many times he shot him.

Luke Evans, Johnson’s attorney, said the state has not proven that Johnson was even involved in the murder. Evans emphasized that the DNA in the getaway car did not come from Johnson.

Evans also argued that there was no video evidence showing Johnson getting into the getaway car.

These arguments apparently failed to convince the jury brought in from Davidson County.

This is a developing story that will be updated.
