Julie Chen misses the live eviction at Big Brother for the first time and brings in Jerry O’Connell as host

Jerry O’Connell can do anything!

On Thursday, September 12, Big Brother Host Julie Chen Moonves announced that she would not be hosting that night’s live eviction for the first time since its inception in 2000. She explained that she was ill and revealed that O’Connell would be filling in for her.

“Friday morning I woke up with a sore throat and went to see my good friend who is an ENT doctor,” she wrote on social media. “That evening he called and said I had COVID. Luckily, this is only my second time and it was very mild. No fever and just a sore throat.”

“Unfortunately, I have still tested positive since this morning… although I feel good and strong and my cough is gone, I have to go home this evening Big Brother “Live eviction show,” she continued. “Thanks to Jerry O’Connell for filling in for me. I hope Jerry fits into my dress, has fun, and tells the houseguests I miss them but will be watching from home.”

She signed the message with her classic quote: “See? Chenbot is only human! Love each other and enjoy the show tonight.”

In the episode of 12 September of The conversationwhich O’Connell co-hosts, he responded to the role by joking on Instagram that he would be “the substitute teacher” that night.

“Everyone who watches this show knows that I am a great Big Brother Fan and I am a big fan of the host and The conversation “Alumna Julie Chen Moonves,” he said on air.

Chen Moonves then called and said she was feeling better before giving O’Connell some advice for the performance. “Jerry, thank you for stepping in. You’re going to do a fantastic job tonight, unbelievable,” she said.

“Tonight is a big night – it’s eviction night,” O’Connell replied. “I think the houseguests are going to be super disappointed because I don’t think they know you’re not coming. So I’ll see them on the live show and they’ll be like, ‘Where’s Julie?'”

Chen Moonves teased her understudy, telling O’Connell this was the first episode of “Jury House Isolation,” where contestants are cut off from the outside world until the finale. She also joked about the shoes O’Connell had to fill to truly be herself.

“Jerry, I know you’re a movie star, you’re a game show host, you’re a talk show host, you’re a husband, you’re a father of two beautiful girls,” she began. “But I have to give you a very important tip tonight. When you go into my dressing room, go into the bathroom. In the second drawer on the left is a corset.”

“I’m telling you, Jerry, there’s no way you’re going to fit into my dress tonight without a corset,” she joked, telling him to ask the hair and makeup artist to help him tighten it. “When you have the corset, you step into it and say, ‘All right, girls, come on in. It’s tug-of-war time.'”

The conversation The hosts laughed when Chen Moonves told Jerry to “keep pulling” but not “too hard” so he wouldn’t get fat on his back.

“All right!” O’Connell shouted, clapping and blowing kisses to Chen Moonves.
