Joseph Maddy receives the 2024 Lutheran Social Service Spirit Award

Joseph Maddy of Shevlin recently received the 2024 Spirit Award from Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.

The award honors employees who demonstrate exceptional commitment and dedication to the vision and mission of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, a press release said.

Maddy works in specialized community support for the organization.

This year, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota honored 88 employees with the award. Recipients are nominated by their supervisors.

“Our Spirit Award recipients are inspirational,” said Patrick Thueson, president of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, in the press release. “They approach their work with passion and have a joy that uplifts those around them. It is a great privilege to recognize their remarkable service to others.”

The Spirit Award winners were honored and recognized at a special ceremony on August 15.

Our newsroom sometimes reports under the name “Pioneer Staff Report.” This name is used when reporters paraphrase basic news briefs from official sources, such as an email or press release that requires little or no reporting.

In other cases, this name is used when a news story has multiple authors or when the story consists of a summary of previously reported news stories from different sources. If outside sources are used, this is noted in the story.
