Jones College sports fans come to a “Night with the Bobcats”

ELLISVILLE, Mississippi (WDAM) – Fans of the Jones College track and field team had the opportunity to interact with student-athletes and celebrate the new semester.

“It’s really fun to see everyone come out and support us,” defensive lineman Kelten Mickell said. “Coming from a small town, you don’t get that opportunity very often.”

There is still a little more than a week until kick-off.

Punter Bart Edmiston is confident that he and his team will be successful this season.

“I want to continue what I did last year and take it to another level,” Edmiston said. “I think the team and coach (Steve) Buckley are going to do really well this year.”

Before the festivities began, Jones College took the time to thank all of its athletes for their hard work and dedication.

“It’s really great that Jones has a community that comes and supports our team in everything we do,” Edmiston said. “There have been a lot of people here every year.”

I think that gives us a good feeling as a team and makes us want to go out there and perform for them.”

Afterwards, people enjoyed food, music and games.

Freshman Damari McDonald was just happy to get out and meet people.

“Meeting new people, having fun because I have nothing to do in my dorm room,” McDonald said.

For classmates like Aaron Batison, it was an evening of celebration and making new bonds and contacts.

“They are very welcoming and make you feel like you are at home and part of the family,” Batison said.
