Jimmy Kimmel reacts cheekily to Jimmy Fallon regarding the news that the “Tonight Show” was canceled by NBC

Jimmy Kimmel has revealed a cheeky text message he sent to Jimmy Fallon after learning that the TV host’s episode of his late-night show had been canceled.

This week it was announced that NBC is making cutsThe Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon The broadcast time was increased from five to four evenings per week, with repeats on Friday evenings.

The important decision comes just a few months after the station announced that it would remove the house band from the program. Late Night with Seth Meyers due to budget cuts.

Over the last few seasons, Fallon has managed to stay ahead of his competition, including ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!CBS The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert and Comedy Central’s The daily showonly four are recorded per week.

Speaking on Saturday (September 7), Kimmel said that all of the late-night hosts had set up a news group and that they congratulated Fallon when she heard the news.

“As a group, we have a text chain with all the late-night hosts and we all sent Jimmy Fallon our congratulations on his Friday off,” he said at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Kimmel appeared to address reports questioning the future of talk shows, quipping, “Late-night shows have no future.”

Late-night viewership has declined in recent years as broadcasters have been forced to implement cost-cutting measures.

“Unfortunately, that’s the reality of broadcasting and a shrinking market – streaming eats here and YouTube eats there,” Late Night with Seth MeyersEli Janney, deputy music director, commented on the budget cuts in June.

“Streaming doesn’t make any money either. So budgets have been cut more and more everywhere. I compare it to a Spotify moment in music, where suddenly nobody wants to pay for music anymore. Music is losing value.”

It is worth noting, however, that Fallon’s show was renewed by NBC earlier this year and will run through 2028. Fallon, 49, first appeared The Tonight Show in 2014 and took over as moderator after Jay Leno resigned.
