Jimmy Kimmel mocks Trump’s reaction to Taylor Swift’s Harris support

Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump and JD Vance for their reactions to Taylor Swift’s public support for Kamala Harris following the heated presidential debate on Tuesday (September 10).

In the Wednesday episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! The late-night host celebrated Swift’s surprise Instagram post announcing that she would vote for Harris in November.

“She signed it with a dig at JD Vance: ‘With love and hope, Taylor Swift’s childless cat lady,'” Kimmel said, quipping, “Great job, JD, you really messed up the sofa bed with that one.”

The 40-year-old senator from Ohio was repeatedly ridiculed for claiming in his best-selling book The Wonderful World of Madness that he admitted to having had relations with a sofa. Hillbilly Elegy.

The joke was made even worse by a now-retracted fact-checking article by The Associated Press titled “No, JD Vance did not have sex with a couch,” which sparked a flood of memes on social media.

Kimmel then shared a clip from an interview with Fox News in which Vance argues that most Americans would not be “influenced” by Swift, “a prominent billionaire who, in my opinion, has basically lost touch with reality…”

Kimmel reluctantly pursed his lips and said, “You mean an unworldly billionaire like your running mate, Donald Trump? The one with a skyscraper with his name on it?”

And now to Trump, who later responded to Swift’s endorsement by saying he was not a fan of the pop star, and Kimmel delivered “bad news.”

“His granddaughter Arabella, Ivanka (Trump’s) daughter, got a Taylor Swift cake for her birthday two months ago,” the moderator said. “So eat it, Grandpa.”

Kimmel continued to mock Trump’s campaign, saying, “Thankfully, they don’t need Taylor Swift. They have some damn talented singers in their own family.”

His comment refers to Lara, the former president’s 41-year-old daughter, who was mercilessly mocked last year after performing a cover of Tom Petty’s 1989 song “I Won’t Back Down” on Sky News Australia.

“How about you just be quiet? Can you do that?” Kimmel said.

He continued his attack by reading out Elon Musk’s “creepy” statement in which he offered to give Swift a “child and protect your cats with my life.”

“(It’s a) statement so eerie it could have come from Trump’s running mate, JD Vance,” Kimmel noted.

Just minutes after Harris and Trump finished their first presidential debate, Swift shared her support for Harris on Instagram.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” the “Anti-Hero” singer wrote. “If you haven’t already, now is a great time to educate yourself on the issues at hand and these candidates’ stances on the issues that matter most to you,” she wrote. “As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

Swift said: “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a fighter to represent them.”

The superstar’s statement has since been supported by a number of celebrities, including this is usMandy Moore, Jennifer Aniston, music legend Stevie Nicks, Oprah and Charli XCX.
