In a stunning conclusion to the September 23 episode of WWE RAW, Jey Uso defeated Bron Breakker to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
After emerging victorious in a qualifying match last week, Uso was overwhelmed early by Breakker. Breakker continued his dominance for a while and even taunted Jey with some push-ups. Although it looked like it was going to be a tough match for Uso, the fan-favorite Superstar pulled himself together.
Towards the end of the match, Uso fueled himself by fending off the Breakkensteiner. After a few strikes, Breakkensteiner hit Uso outside the ring with a vicious spear, but Uso immediately countered with one of his own.
Back in the ring, Uso hit a big Uso Splash for a near win, and then he was thrown out of the ring. Just as it looked like Breakker was going to send Uso through the barrier, Jey jumped up for a superkick and rammed Breakker through it instead. He then threw Breakker into the ring, landed another Spear, and then another Uso Splash for the win.
With this victory, Uso won the company’s singles title for the first time.
This loss ended Breakker’s reign after 51 days. He won the title by defeating Sami Zayn at WWE SummerSlam.
