The award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie was given to Jessica Gunning!

At the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 15, Baby reindeer The actress took home the coveted award.

Aja Naomi King, Dakota Fanning, Diane Lane, Kali Reis, Lily Gladstone and Nava Mau were all nominated for the award, but only one took home the win.

“Thank you so much!” said Gunning as she accepted her first Emmy. “I honestly feel like I’m going to wake up any minute, this whole thing has been like a dream. Thank you so much. I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of this. Baby reindeer. I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who made this possible for me.”

Gunning thanked the Netflix show’s creative team as well as her agent and loved ones. However, her “biggest thanks” went to Baby reindeer Creator and star Richard Gadd.

“I’ve tried so many times to put into words what working on Baby Reindeer meant to me and I’ve failed every time,” Gunning continued. “So I’m going to sing… no. No, I’m going to keep it simple and just say thank you for trusting me to be your Martha. I will never, ever forget her or you or this. It really means a lot to me.”

King, known for her role as Harriet Sloane in Chemistry lessons, is nominated for an Emmy for the first time. When she heard the news, she thanked her fans in a statement.

“I am deeply honored to be nominated for an Emmy,” said King, 39. “It’s difficult to put into words the wealth of emotions I’m feeling right now, but above all, I am deeply grateful. My thanks go to the Television Academy, the incredible cast and crew of Lessons in Chemistry that I’ve had the privilege of working with, and every person who has ever told me to keep going. Thank you.”

The show was also nominated for Outstanding Miniseries, receiving 10 nominations in total.

Ripley The 30-year-old actress Fanning received her first Emmy nomination. The Netflix thriller follows Andrew Scott – also an Emmy nominee – as con man Tom Ripley and Fanning as Marge Sherwood, the girlfriend of Ripley’s son Dickie Greenleaf, played by Johnny Flynn.

Before the show, Patricia Highsmith’s bestselling novels were adapted into the 1999s by Tom Ripley. The talented Mr. Ripley Film with Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.

Fanning recently spoke about her acting career in an interview with PORTER.

“I’m trying to force myself to keep saying yes to things that make me uncomfortable and to keep going to places that I might be afraid of for long periods of time because, God willing, one day it won’t be so easy,” she said.

Lane, 59, from Feud: Capote against the Swans, has a total of three Emmy nominations, starting in 1989 for her work Lonely pigeon.

Lane recently spoke to PEOPLE about the mix of real life and fiction in Feud: Capote versus the Swans. “I got to know some of these characters, Gloria Vanderbilt and Lee Radziwill, and yet there was still an aura of betrayal,” Lane said of the swans’ feud with Capote. “This was around the time Truman Capote died.”

The story is about Slim Keith’s New York high society friends, the so-called “Swans”, and the failure of their relationships after he published a book in which he revealed their secrets.

“Being famous meant having a protective moat around you, which meant you had a private life, which of course invites scrutiny, questions and wonder,” Lane told PEOPLE about life in the spotlight in the ’60s and ’70s. “I think that’s at your peril these days. If you try to pretend you’re not part of the people, you get away with that kind of exclusivity less and less.”

Naomi Watts, Treat Williams and Tom Hollander were also nominated for their roles in the series.

In baby reindeer, Gunning, 38, played lead actress Martha, which earned her her first Emmy nomination. In a panel after a screening in New York City in June, she revealed that she already knew the story before she got the role.

“I had seen Richard’s show Monkey sees, monkey doeson which episode four is loosely based, so I already knew his script and thought it was ‘brilliant,'” Gunning said of creator Richard Gadd’s script. “I actually tried to get tickets for the stage show of Baby reindeer but it was sold out, so I bought the stage play – which is a bit of Martha of mine.”

The Netflix hit is about a woman who pursues a man who works at a local bar by any means necessary. The film was nominated for a total of eleven awards, including outstanding miniseries, and the lead roles were nominated by Gadd, Tom Goodman-Hill and Mau.

Indigenous actress Reis, 38, received a nomination for her role as Evangeline Navarro in True Detective: Nightland. Reis was a former boxer and became a six-time world champion in her thirties, then an actress. She made her film debut and then got her role in True Detective.

“Issa took her time and composed and created this character with a lot of care and time, and she was pretty much her stubborn little Scorpio self,” the actress joked to PEOPLE in March. “I basically had to meet her where she was.”

The series is also nominated for Best Miniseries and co-star Jodie Foster received a nomination for Best Actress.

Gladstone, 38, also Indigenous, played police officer Cam Bentland in the Hulu drama Under the bridge. She is the only person from the series to receive a nomination, and it is also her first.

“I am deeply touched by this nomination,” said the Oscar nominee. “I share this honor wholeheartedly with the all-star cast of Under the Bridge, who have told Reena Virk’s story with such deep compassion and unparalleled talent.”

She continued: “Every beating heart on screen has given so much of themselves to honor their legacy and I especially want to thank Vritika, Archie and Riley, you all inspire me so much. Thank you to Quinn Shephard, Samir Mehta, Liz Tigelaar, Stacey Silverman, Gina Gammell and Riley Keough for bringing this story to light and standing up for radical empathy. I am forever grateful to have been taken on this journey.”

Mau, 32, made history at this year’s Emmy Awards by becoming the first transgender actress to be nominated for a miniseries or television movie category, for her role in Baby reindeer. Mau played Teri, Gadd’s love interest, in the popular Netflix series, and she spoke about what an honor it was to receive the nomination.

“I am at a loss for words,” she said in a statement Wednesday. “This morning is an emotional rollercoaster filled with tears of joy for this recognition of my work and my humanity as a trans Latina woman. Today is an affirmation of my existence and my journey as a working actress. It is a dream come true and I am so humbled and deeply grateful for this nomination. Most of all, I am grateful to my colleagues for not only bestowing this nomination on me, but for celebrating this groundbreaking moment for the entire trans community.”

“I want to express my endless gratitude and congratulations to Richard Gadd, Jessica Gunning and my entire Baby Reindeer family,” she added. “This has been the journey of a lifetime and I am deeply moved to share this with you all. Mil gracias and mucho amor a mi familia en México y San Antonio!”
