Former NFL MVP Brett Favre announces Parkinson’s diagnosis to Congress
While testifying before Congress about the misuse of social security funds, former NFL quarterback Brett Favre revealed that he suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
Brett Favre’s revelation that he suffers from Parkinson’s disease earns him no sympathy from Jennifer Sterger.
The model and television star accused the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback of sending her lewd text messages and pictures when she worked as a game day host for the New York Jets in 2008. And shortly after Favre made his diagnosis public at a congressional hearing on Tuesday, Sterger responded in an Instagram story.
“PSA: Please don’t send me links to this. I saw it. I can read,” she wrote. “I don’t wish anyone bad, but I know karma never forgets an address. Imagine being diagnosed with such a horrible disease and not having the tools to fight it because some Hall of Fame quarterback stole it?”
Favre is linked to a welfare scandal in Mississippi in which state funds intended for needy families were allegedly diverted to several pet projects. On Tuesday, he was testifying before the House Budget Committee when he mentioned his Parkinson’s diagnosis.
“Unfortunately, I also lost an investment in a company that I thought was developing a breakthrough concussion drug that I thought would help others,” Favre said. “I’m sure you’ll understand that while it’s too late for me because I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, this is also a cause that is close to my heart.”
Sterger, now 40, claimed Favre harassed her during his only season with the Jets. The NFL launched an investigation into the allegations, and although Favre admitted to sending her voicemails, the league found he did not violate any workplace conduct rules.
He was fined $50,000 for failing to cooperate with the investigation.
