Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce on her wedding day “to annoy Ben Affleck”

Jennifer Lopez reportedly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on their second wedding anniversary because she wanted it to “hurt.”
The Hollywood couple split in April after nearly two years of marriage, but kept the split secret until Jennifer filed court documents confirming the end of the relationship on Tuesday (20.08.24) – and a new report suggests she chose the anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding on purpose.
A source told DailyMail.co.uk: “Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben and she waited until the second anniversary because she wanted to score points.”
However, the insider stressed that Ben was not bothered by the jibe as he accepted the end of the marriage months ago. He added: “It didn’t hurt him. He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows it. He let her have it so she wouldn’t look like the bad guy.”
The 55-year-old pop superstar was engaged to the Hollywood actor in the early 2000s, but the relationship ended shortly before the wedding.
They reunited in 2021 before tying the knot in two ceremonies in 2022 – one in Las Vegas and one in Georgia. The divorce was filed exactly two years after the couple’s extravagant second party on August 20, 2022.
The official separation date stated in the divorce file is April 26, 2024.
A source previously told PEOPLE that Jennifer filed for divorce because she knew it was time to “move on,” but she was still very “sad” that the marriage was over.
The insider explained: “(She knows) it’s time to move on for a variety of reasons… She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben has given her no indication that he wants to continue their marriage. He has shown no commitment or interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point where she just has to take care of herself.”
