The sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 horror comedy “Beetlejuice” premiered on Wednesday at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” hits theaters in the U.S. on Sept. 6 and tells the story of the Deetz family’s return to Winter River. Jenna Ortega plays the teenage daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz. Catherine O’Hara and Michael Keaton also reprise their roles from the original film, alongside new cast members including Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.
See what stars like Cate Blanchett and Taylor Russell wore on the red carpet at the premiere of Beetlejuice.
Jenna Ortega
Ortega took inspiration from Lydia Deetz’s red wedding dress from the original film “Beetlejuice” and chose a transparent cut-out dress by Christian Dior with a heart-shaped bodice and pleated skirt.
Winona Ryder
Ryder’s Chanel look combined a suit with a traditional ball gown. Her ensemble consisted of a cropped double-breasted jacket and a pleated white shirt dress worn over a tulle skirt. A black bow tie completed her ensemble.
Cate Blanchett
Blanchett dazzled in a strapless dress by Armani Privé. The actress wore jewelry by Louis Vuitton, including a pearl necklace around her shoulders.
Catherine O’Hara
O’Hara’s Oscar de la Renta vinyl dress featured a neckline lined with spidery tendrils, while the mesh skirt was adorned with floral appliqués.
Sarah E.
Russell’s white Chanel dress is from the label’s Spring 1993 couture collection. Originally worn by Claudia Schiffer, it features a plastic corset and an embroidered bustle.
Ahead of the premiere of Beetlejuice, the stars of the film took part in a photocall during the annual festival. See their looks for the day below.
Jenna Ortega
Ortega wore a maroon color-block double-breasted blazer and pleated trousers by Paul Smith. The actress, styled by Enrique Melendez, accessorized with black platform shoes and diamond-encrusted rings by Effy and Rachel Katz.
Winona Ryder
Ryder’s round-neck coat dress featured a ruffled collar and a slit skirt. The “Stranger Things” star was dressed by Erica Cloud, whose clients include Kacey Musgraves and Awkwafina.
Catherine O’Hara
O’Hara took cues from Beetlejuice’s iconic striped suit and a matching ensemble by Petar Petrov that included a button-down blouse and wide-leg pants. Stylist Andrew Gelwicks, who has also dressed Molly Ringwald and supermodel Winnie Harlow, put together O’Hara’s look.
Monica Bellucci
Bellucci chose a plunging polka dot midi dress by Dolce & Gabbana and paired it with peep-toe platform shoes, Cartier jewelry and a black leather clutch – also by Dolce.
