Jaylen Brown had a hilarious answer to the question about his Olympic rejection

The Boston Celtics became the first NBA team to hold a media day for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday, and reporters had plenty to ask. The team’s summer has been surprisingly dramatic considering they are defending champions and have kept all but one player on the roster. Guard Jaylen Brown and forward Jayson Tatum in particular have had some Olympic controversies that reporters were happy to ask questions about when they sat in front of the microphones.

Brown had barely settled into his seat on the podium when a media representative asked him about his rejection by Team USA. He had a very funny answer ready.

“Damn, question number one?” Brown laughed. “Can’t you warm up a little? Shit.”

Brown was not included on the U.S. team’s initial roster, then replaced by guard Derrick White when forward Kawhi Leonard was sidelined during training camp. He has been vocal that he was not included because of company policy and past statements against Nike, the U.S. team’s sponsor. Executive director Grant Hill, who was responsible for assembling the team, insisted on multiple occasions that this was not the case. Whatever the case, the team that went to Paris – which included White and Tatum – brought home gold.

With the new NBA season just around the corner, it may finally be time to wrap up this storyline.
