Jared Padalecki has been cast in the upcoming third season of “Fire Country” on CBS. diversity has confirmed.
Padalecki will appear in a recurring role in three episodes. He will play Camden, described as “a firefighter and loner from Southern California with a surfer demeanor who is a force to be reckoned with and who immediately recognizes Bode’s (Max Thieriot) raw talent.”
The role keeps Padalecki connected to CBS Studios, which produces “Fire Country.” Padalecki recently starred in the studio series “Walker,” which aired for four seasons on The CW, with Padalecki starring and serving as an executive producer. He also executive produced the prequel series “Walker: Independence,” which aired for one season.
Padalecki is, of course, best known for his starring role on the long-running series “Supernatural” on The CW/The WB. The series ran for 15 seasons and Padalecki starred alongside Jensen Ackles. There has been some discussion of Padalecki and Ackles reuniting with “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke on the Amazon series “The Boys,” in which Kripke is showrunner and Ackles stars as Soldier Boy.
He is represented by UTA, Industry Entertainment and Fuller Law.
“Fire Country” first aired on CBS in 2022 and quickly became one of the network’s most-watched shows. A spin-off, “Sheriff Country,” starring Morena Baccarin, has already been ordered to series. Given Padalecki’s relationship with the studio, it’s possible that his storyline in Season 3 could be used to create his own spin-off, but there is currently no agreement in place. CBS and CBS Studios declined to comment on the possibility of another spin-off.
“Fire Country” returns for Season 3 on October 18. Thieriot leads the cast of “Fire Country,” which also includes Billy Burke, Kevin Alejandro, Diane Farr, Stephanie Arcila, Jordan Calloway and Jules Latimer. Thieriot co-created the series with Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. All three serve as executive producers along with showrunner Tia Napolitano and Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed of Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
Deadline was the first to report on Padalecki’s casting.
