Mom, the Janes are fighting again! At Friday night’s concert in Boston, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell hit guitarist Dave Navarro on stage in the middle of a song, according to several media reports, including Rolling Stone. Footage from the concert shows Farrell walking up to Navarro as he strums his guitar, and as he gets closer, he punches him in the arm once before punching him again. A crew member intervenes, and an irate Farrell leaves the stage. Audience members audibly wonder if he was “serious.” The concert ended after 11 songs, and Eric Avery, the band’s bassist, apologized to the crowd. Vulture has reached out to the band for comment.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Farrell, posted footage of the brawl on Instagram and explained the situation from a different perspective. She wrote: “Perry’s frustration grew night by night. He felt the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band. Perry suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the front row started complaining to Perry and yelling at him that the band was too loud and they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.” She declared Avery the winner of the brawl – an unbiased decision.

Tension has reportedly been building since Jane’s Addiction began its reunion tour in August. It was the first time the band (Perry, Navarro, Avery, Stephen Perkins) had all played together since 2010. The reunion featured her first new song with Avery in 34 years. And what about the rest of the tour? Jane’s Addiction’s next concert is Sunday in Bridgeport. Vulture has reached out for comment on whether or not the show will go on. But if so, things could get a little awkward.
