Ja’Marr Chase Ryan Clark ESPN: Bengals resignation, good question

play

The one-on-one interview between Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase and ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark aired on ABC’s “Monday Night Football” prior to the start of the Bengals’ Week 3 game against the Washington Commanders, and Chase had some interesting things to say.

Chase entered the game with 10 catches for 97 yards without a touchdown in the Bengals’ two games this season, his fourth in the NFL.

He missed some time of training camp while seeking a contract extension. He was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for disagreeing with referee Alex Kemp during the Bengals’ loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City.

Clark asked Chase how he felt when he saw some of the league’s best receivers renew their contracts over the summer.

“‘S—, I have to be next,'” Chase told Clark what he was thinking. “I was a little disappointed. But that’s just another lesson in life.”

“Do you want to retire as a Cincinnati Bengal?” Clark asked Chase.

“That’s a good question,” Chase replied, smiling. “I wouldn’t mind. I don’t mind Cincinnati. I love Cincinnati. I wouldn’t mind being a Bengali for life.”

When asked if he was confident that quarterback Joe Burrow was healthy, Chase said, “You know, I’ve been watching him for a long time now. I’ve never seen him falter or feel down. But I always help him, too.”

When asked why he was looking forward to a game where he, Burrow and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will compete as former LSU Tigers stars, Chase replied: “It will be the first time I’ll not only see (Daniels) play at LSU, but also get a really good look at his game. But I’m pretty excited to see what the two quarterbacks can do. … It’s going to be a great game, man, great matchups overall.”
