Jack Draper vs Alex de Minaur LIVE: Latest US Open tennis results and updates as British No.1 targets semi-finals
Jack Draper returns to the court tonight to face Australian Alex de Minaur for a place in the semi-finals of the US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The British No.1 has never reached this stage of a Grand Slam before and is therefore entering uncharted territory as he looks to emulate Emma Raducanu and win the tournament at Flushing Meadows. Draper has been in incredible form so far during his campaign in New York, winning all four of his matches in straight sets, the last of which was a 6-3, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Czech Tomas Machac, who Draper had never beaten before.
His opponent had a tougher time. De Minaur, the competition’s 10th seed, has dropped four sets in three of his matches so far, including a third-round loss to Britain’s Dan Evans. He beat fellow countryman Jordan Thompson 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 on Monday and knows he has another fight ahead of him tonight.

Jack Draper vs Alex De Minaur
The players come out, Jack Draper strides out with his fist raised and salutes the crowd. Hmm… is Alex De Minaur’s gait just the tiniest bit uncomfortable? The Australian also recognizes a modest New York crowd, spectators perhaps sensibly avoiding the heat of the afternoon sun or cooling off in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Jack Draper is not “the next Andy Murray,” but he can emulate his friend and idol at the US Open
Jack Draper and Andy Murray are both tennis players, but that’s about all they have in common. At 22, Murray was still groping his way into the limelight after reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. At the time, he was portrayed as something of a misanthrope, an implacable curmudgeon. Draper, on the other hand, who is playing in his first Grand Slam quarter-final on Wednesday, is enjoying the fame. “I quite enjoy being in front of the camera,” he told the British newspaper The British Open. fashion while doing a cover shoot this summer. “That is, if I look good.”

The first match of the day is over and it won’t be long before Jack Draper and Alex De Minaur are on court. It seems the Australian had some minor issues in training yesterday as De Minaur is still trying to get back to full fitness after withdrawing from Wimbledon. Will the hip injury become a problem again?
