Jack Black, Jason Momoa Navigate Minecraft

Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa with shaggy bangs), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) are brought into the world of Minecraft in the A Minecraft movie Teasers.

In the preview, the humans are confused by the new realm they find themselves in. “What the hell?!” Dawn exclaims when she finds a pink, square sheep. That’s not even the tip of the iceberg of what awaits them. As they discover, “you can do anything you can dream of here.” The group is led by a fellow human named Steve (Jack Black), who teaches them how to survive in this new universe.

However, Steve’s introduction does not initially make a good impression on the group and Natalie explains: “The guy is such an idiot.”

The film’s official synopsis reads: “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity isn’t just what you need to craft, it’s what you need to survive! Four outsiders – Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) – are struggling with everyday problems when they’re suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal to the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they must master this world (and also protect it from evil things like piglins and zombies) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, skilled craftsman, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be brave and reconnect with the traits that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to compete in the real world again.”

Jennifer Coolidge (who does not appear in the teaser) also stars. The film is directed by Jared Hess and produced by Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui and Momoa. Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary and Anthony Tittanegro are also listed as executive producers.

A Minecraft movie will be released in theaters on April 4, 2025.
