Jack Antonoff is not averse to lying Adam Sandler to support his wife, Margaret Qualley.

Qualley, 29, confirmed on Tuesday, September 24, episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that she will play a role in Sandler’s highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 and that her husband, a music producer, helped her get the role.

“I emailed my agent immediately,” the actress said. “I said, ‘Whatever it takes. No role is too small. I have to be there.'”

Sandler, 58, then sent a text message to Antonoff inquiring about Qualley’s golf skills. (The original film is about a hockey player with anger issues who discovers he has a talent for golf.)

“Jacko. This is Sandler. Does your wife even play golf?” says a screenshot of the moderator Jimmy Fallon of text exchange.

Antonoff replied: “Yes, it is actually good!”

Sandler went on to say that he had Qualley in mind for a role in the comedy sequel, writing back, “That might bug her for a few days… funny. She’d be great.”

After Fallon read the messages between her husband and Sandler, Qualley admitted, “I can’t play golf.”

“He lied for the sake of the family,” Qualley said, laughing. “I’ve never played a day of golf in my life. I’m actually terrible.”

To prepare for the film, Qualley said he took a few golf lessons, but added, “Most of the time I’m still bad.”

Regardless of their golf skills, the maid The star said working with Sandler was “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

In August, Sandler told Fallon on The Tonight Show The Happy Gilmore 2 was just a few weeks away from starting production in New Jersey.

“We worked hard on the script, man,” the comedian teased. “We didn’t want to disappoint anyone. People have been asking me for a long time: ‘Are you doing Happy Gilmore 2‘ and I always thought, ‘No, I’m just going to disappoint you.'”

Sandler said he and co-author Tim Herlihy has finally managed to crack the script. “We’re really excited about it. We worked our asses off,” he said.

The comedian also confirmed that Travis Kelce will make a cameo appearance in the film after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end publicly campaigned for a role in May.

“Travis has… he mentioned it, so we have something nice for Travis,” Sandler said.

The actor gushed about Kelce, adding, “He’s a very nice guy. You would love him in real life. What a tall, handsome guy. Funny and damn cool. He’s a stud and so funny.”
