“It’s special,” Coby Bryant on being named Week 4 captain

“Well, keep doing the right things,” Macdonald said. “I tell the boys, it’s like when you played baseball. I was a good fielder. Sometimes I couldn’t bat and that’s why I wasn’t in the lineup. It’s like, ‘Do you want to play, Mike? You hit better.’ Ball.’ So go out there and do it consistently. Then they can’t remove you from the lineup. So if you stack enough of them in a row, it’s obvious that we need to make room.”

Bryant said the opportunity to go out and play for the team was “definitely exciting.”

“I just go out there and contribute in any way I can… I just want to help the team,” Bryant said.

Macdonald said: “I couldn’t wait for Coby (Bryant) to go out straight away and see what he’d done. That was cool.”

Macdonald said he likes giving players the opportunity to go out and play.

“I like to do that. I like to reward people who do great work. I didn’t see it as a challenge. I think if you show the guys directly where they are and why their role is like that.” That means they appreciate it. “We want to create enough depth that we can’t wait to see the next guy play.” That’s the feeling we want to create here. It’s not like, “You have to play so and so.”
