Control the Brazilian airspace 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a complex and ongoing task. To ensure the safety of our personnel, the Departamento de Controle do Espaço Aéreo (DECEA) has a power of 4,524 controllers of air transport and sends about 3,800 military units that essentially perform operational functions.

These professionals are distributed throughout the national territories and receive important documents in the Area Control Centres (ACC), the Air Traffic Control Centre (APP) and the airport control towers. They ensure safe air traffic control and provide critical information to the pilots.

DECEA is able to facilitate efficient and safe operations so that the equipment is not damaged by the structures. These guidelines are based on the Instrução de Commando da Aeronáutica (ICA) 63-33, which establishes criteria for the execution, activation and deactivation of operational positions, as well as the definition of the workload for the operators.

ICA 63-33 also regulates the period of time each control officer can continue his work, taking into account the operational requirement of each control body. The control bodies were divided into four classes based on movement media in the air three years ago. Our organizers of classes 1 and 2, most of them, the controllers can work continuously for a maximum of two hours, while we are in classes 3 and 4, while the transition period can still last three hours. Due to the nature of the work, which involves high responsibility and can be affected by incidents or accidents in the air, specially trained psychologists are involved when treating and observing atípico.
