Isolated rain and thunderstorms until Thursday evening

We will be monitoring Doppler levels across Minnesota through Thursday.

A slow-moving cold front will move through Minnesota through late Thursday. As it slides east, occasional showers and a few thunderstorms will develop. I’m not particularly impressed with the severe weather threat, but some storms late Thursday could be severe. At the top of this post, you can see the light risk zone in eastern Minnesota.

NOAA’s latest (18Z) HRRR model shows a broken line of storms attempting to form from northeastern Minnesota to near the Twin Cities late Thursday afternoon.

Many weather forecast models are projecting this line east of the Twin Cities, so we may miss storms and rain in the Twin Cities late Thursday. But it’s going to be close.

Cooler next week

There may be isolated thunderstorms over the weekend. The greatest probability of widespread precipitation is during the night from Sunday to Monday.

Then, at the beginning of next week, cooler air will flow south. Who wants highs of over 15 degrees?

Temperatures will feel a little different starting next week when the weather maps start to show shades of blue again, but there are signs that it will start to get warmer than 27 degrees again by the end of next week.

The summer weather is not over here yet.
