Is YFN Lucci still alive? Rapper’s lawyer clears up social media hoax

American rapper and singer YFN Lucci is alive and well, despite rumors that he was killed in Jail.

The joke quickly spread across various social media platforms and blogs – a practice typically used by social media creators and managers to increase engagement and play on fans’ emotions.

Drew Findling, Lucci’s lawyer, debunked the hoax and confirmed to TMZ that Lucci is not dead.

Findling represented Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, in his trial in January, which ended with a 10-year prison sentence.

Lucci was charged in 2021 with murder, assault and organized crime as part of a sweeping indictment targeting a group of 12 people known as the alleged Blood Gang.

According to investigators, Bennett and the other members committed a variety of crimes to protect the gang’s reputation and maintain control over their territory.

The rapper pleaded guilty to violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

As part of the sentence, Bennett agreed to serve a ten-year prison sentence, followed by an additional ten years of probation.

His legal team’s statement to PEOPLE read: “As he has maintained for three years, Mr. Bennett will not cooperate in any other case. By signing this settlement, he will be eligible for parole in just four months.”

Some users on TikTok claimed that Lucci died from a gunshot wound to the upper body, prompting a reaction from his fans.

“This has to be fake, for example that’s why they say YFN Lucci died,” read the caption of a fan video.

Others expressed similar sentiments on Facebook when a news site reported the hoax.

“Y’all need to be SUED!!! This is ridiculous,” one said, while another added: “The man is not dead.”
