The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra certainly has a striking design, but its sharp corners can also make it uncomfortable to hold in certain orientations. However, with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, this might not be an issue – and Samsung’s top-of-the-line S25 could also get a name change in the style of the past.
Reputable leaker @UniverseIce has shared renders of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra on X and the phone in the images has more rounded corners than the S24 Ultra.
It’s not clear where @UniverseIce got these images from, but they’re a source with a good track record and they’ve also previously claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will have a more rounded design.
In another post, which you can see below, the same source posted an image comparing the front of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to that of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This gives you a clear look at how much more rounded the corners of the S25 Ultra could be, but the focus here is on the bezels.
@UniverseIce claims that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is narrower than the 79mm-wide Galaxy S24 Ultra, but still has a wider screen than that phone’s 72.3mm-wide display. This is apparently achieved through narrower bezels and, judging by this image, perhaps smaller bezels too.
They don’t provide actual measurements for any of these parts of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but we imagine the difference must be pretty small, even though they claim it’s “an ideal design.”
What is the biggest problem with the design of the S24 Ultra? The biggest flaw is that the horizontal screen-to-body ratio is too low. The body width is 79mm, of which only 72.3mm is the screen and the remaining 6.7mm is the entire bezel and mid-frame, which makes the hand feel… pic.twitter.com/YjCVWgWeKi16 August 2024
A new name fits the new design
And it’s not just the design that might change, but also the name. According to leaker Yogesh Brar, Samsung might bring back the Galaxy Note name and launch the phone as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Note instead. They also claim that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus might launch as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Pro instead.
That might make sense, since the current Ultra range has more in common with the old Notes than with Samsung’s original Ultra phones anyway. But it could cause confusion among buyers as to whether the Note or the Pro is the top model – and to justify the Pro name, Samsung may have to give the mid-range model better specs than it normally has.
In any case, it will probably be quite a while before the Galaxy S25 series launches, with January or February likely being the time. So we probably won’t know what these phones will look like or what they’ll be called for a long time, and we expect plenty more leaks to surface in the meantime.
