Mystery solved?

Maybe that is why so many in #NFLMedia doesn’t like Baker Mayfield.

Joe has brought this up time and time again on the “Ira Kaufman Podcast.” Joe can’t understand why so many in the Fourth Estate really despise Mayfield. Ira thought maybe it’s partly because Mayfield isn’t afraid to contradict reporters when he thinks he’s being asked a stupid question or is being set up.

Few groups of people undermine their records as much as some members of the Fourth Estate.

But Joe believes there is an answer to the mystery of why so many get a bitter beer face when Mayfield’s name is mentioned: It seems as if he is condescending to his opponents.

BSPN had a piece on Mayfield and gambling. And while gambling has nothing to do with the game on the field, tonight’s Bucs season opener against the Commandos could be exciting if that trend continues this afternoon.

Betting Nugget: Bucs QB Baker Mayfield has a career record of 13-26-1 ATS as a favorite, the worst record of any signal-caller with at least 30 starts as a favorite in the Super Bowl era.

That’s pretty devastating.

The odds for the game are Bucs -3.5. What this means for non-gamblers is that if you bet on the Bucs to win, the Bucs must win by at least four points for the bet to win (over 3.5).

If Mayfield’s trend of not covering the spread continues, it means tonight’s game could be won or lost by a field goal.

So Joe has to ask himself how much money Mayfield has cost sportswriters over the years. That could explain why so many in #NFLMedia I just don’t like the guy.
