Irish Premiership: “The deal is done” – David Healy

The Linfield manager said he was “pleased with the result” after his side continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-0 win over Glenavon.

Two goals from Joel Cooper and a close-range shot from Kirk Millar gave the away team a 3-0 lead at half-time, before the second half was much quieter.

“I think we had a 10-minute period where we scored the goals and then in the second half it was probably a game for the neutral.

“We did what we wanted. We didn’t want to concede a goal in the second half.”

“I think Glenavon were probably a little bit better in the second half, they changed their line-up a little bit, but I’m happy with the result.”

Linfield have strengthened their squad by signing Cammy Ballantyne, Charlie Chapman, Sam Roscoe and Scot Whiteside, but Healy admitted it was unlikely that any further new signings would arrive at Windsor Park.

“The probability is no, and that is my honest opinion,” he admitted.

“I think we’ve got our business done. There are one or two of our squad playing tonight who hopefully aren’t too far away.

“I think we’re in a pretty good position with the squad we have. The fans always want new signings, new players, different types of players and that’s fine, but I more than understand that the deals are probably already done.”
