Interstellar studio responds to disturbing rumors about the future of Christopher Nolan film

A disturbing rumor about Interstellar was approached by the film studio.

In Christopher Nolan’s film, which still gives rise to numerous theories today, Matthew McConaughey plays an astronaut who leaves his young daughter behind to embark on a mission to save the Earth, which is on the verge of collapse.

Interstellar was one of the highest-grossing films of 2014 and has developed a cult following over the past decade, with specialized theaters showing 70mm IMAX prints of the film.

On Wednesday (August 7), a rumor about the future of the film surfaced online, claiming that an upcoming re-release – to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary – had been canceled due to “drama.”

The concern began when a post on the forums of BoxOfficeTheory claimed that Paramount “destroyed all original IMAX 70mm prints” of the Christopher Nolan film following its theatrical release in 2014, meaning its planned re-release was “likely cancelled outside of a very select circle of theaters.”

The post, which made headlines after being shared on X/Twitter and Reddit, also claimed that Nolan was “angry” because he “didn’t approve of this.”

This rumor has now been refuted by both Paramount and IMAX, who said the film will be re-released. However, sources confirmed diversity that this will now happen three months later than planned, namely on December 6th, supposedly to coincide with the release of a brand new home entertainment product.

Last month, a TikTok user shared a theory that changes the way people look at the film. His idea came about after he noticed that Nolan uses the same shot twice in the film, but “in completely different contexts.”

Nolan’s second Batman film, The Dark Knightwhich recently celebrated its 16th anniversary, almost included some Joker scenes that would have explained the backstory of Heath Ledger’s villainous Joker.

The film was released in 2008, received critical acclaim, and earned Ledger a posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

“I remember when we talked about it, ‘What if the Joker doesn’t have a real origin story?’ Even after the success of Batman beginsit was seen as a very controversial thing and we got a lot of backlash,” said author Davis S. Goyer in an interview at Comic-Con.
