The Michigan State basketball team will find out later Wednesday whether or not five-star forward Jalen Haralson will be the first member of their 2025 recruiting class.

While we don’t yet know if he will choose MSU, Indiana or Notre Dame, some interesting information came to light late Tuesday night on X that has a direct impact on Haralson’s recruitment.

Later in the thread, Ryan Phillips of Sports Illustrated shared that the number he heard was “north” of $1 million.

So now we know that Haralson has a huge NIL package on the table, and we also know that Michigan State will be competing against Indiana and Notre Dame in this recruitment, but the question has to be asked whether Michigan State would be able to offer that NIL package.

I wish I knew the answer to that question, but unfortunately I don’t know how much NIL Tom Izzo has available. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Michigan State has the resources to make such a large offer.

I’ve never seen the exact NIL amounts available to the basketball program, and the people who know haven’t shared them either. But those people who do know have indicated that Michigan State basketball is a major player in the NIL space. That might explain why the Spartans have been able to sign elite classes like they have in 2023 and never lost a player to the transfer portal that they want to keep on their roster.

But at the end of the day, we’ll have to see if Haralson chooses Michigan State or not. I’d love to think MSU could make such an offer, but even if they can’t, I know they still have a solid offer on the table and can make up the difference by having a legendary coach like Izzo and an elite program and family atmosphere that Haralson would immediately grow into.
