Berlin. Traditionally, it is reserved for inline skaters to open the competitions as part of the BMW BERLIN MARATHON on Saturday. To mark the 50th anniversary of Germany’s largest marathon, a course with an atmospheric stadium atmosphere was run for the first time. This initially led to a five-time circuit from the Großer Stern via Ernst-Reuter-Platz and Otto-Suhr-Allee to Charlottenburg Palace and back. For the big finale, the inline skaters raced across the traditional section of Landwehrkanal-Potsdamer Platz-Gendarmenmarkt-Unter den Linden to the finish, surrounded by the usual euphoric Berlin audience.

The athletes were preceded by a small fleet of fully electric BMW CE 02 and BMW CE 04 scooters. For the latter, this track check was a home game in two respects: The BMW CE 04 is manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Berlin, the home of international BMW Motorrad production. This exclusive adventure trip began there and ended with crossing the iconic Brandenburg Gate. A special moment that will also be an unforgettable moment for all athletes tomorrow, Sunday. At the 50th BMW BERLIN MARATHON, the BMW CE 04 as well as fully electric BMW automobiles will also be used as watch, route and organizational vehicles.

The scooter fleet was followed by more than 3,300 inline skaters who, due to the high speed, completed their race separately from other athletes. A total of around 85,000 people from 161 nations – both of which are records for the BMW BERLIN MARATHON – will be active in various disciplines over the weekend.

Bart Swings drove a committed race single-handedly and secured his ninth victory in this race. The Belgian attacked very early and gained a 30 second lead, which he further extended. His teammates Jason Suttels (BEL, winner 2023) and Felix Rijhnen (GER, winner 2019) controlled the field and then secured the other podium places in the final sprint to the finish. Swings won in 1:00:02 hours ahead of Suttels and Rijhnen (both 1:01:31). The women’s race was also characterized by many attacks, but no rider managed to pull away. The eventual winner Noraly Berber and her teammates started the sprint to the finish well in front of the Brandenburg Gate – and were successful with this tactic, even if only by the narrowest of margins. Berber Vonk reached the finish in 1:13:53 hours, second and third places went to the Colombians Johana Viveros (1:13:53) and Aura Quintana Herrera (1:13:54) in a heart-stopping finale.

With an electric drive, pioneering design and innovative connectivity solutions, the scooter from BMW Motorrad combines the functions of a means of transport and communication in one. With a maximum output of 31 kW (42 hp), a top speed of 120 km/h and a range of around 130 kilometers, it offers generous progress not only in the city, but also on expressways and motorway sections.

With the new BMW CE 02, BMW Motorrad presented another electric vehicle that, as an icon of urban mobility, creates a completely new approach to BMW Motorrad. The BMW CE 02 is electric, appeals particularly to young people and is made for the city: nimble, practical, robust and reduced to the bare essentials in terms of design.

With a maximum output of 11 kW / 15 HP, the new CE 02 can be driven by ages 16 and up. In a version with 4 kW / 5 HP (nominal power 3.2 kW / 4 HP) and limited to 45 km/h, the new CE 02 meets the requirements of the AM driving license and can be driven in Germany, for example, from the age of 15 and with a car driving license become.
