Injury overview: Last week of preseason

In just three short days, we’ll finally have NFL football that really counts again. And that means we’ll have real fantasy football, too. This is the last part of the list of preseason injuries, some of which have already been discussed. It was a low-injury week as teams prepare for the regular season. The lack of injuries is good for us, especially since this is the most popular time to put together fantasy football teams. Unfortunately, injuries will continue to crop up as the regular season progresses. There will be more to analyze and process in the next installment of this article.

Be sure to check back here every Monday during the season for the injury summary.

WR Ricky Pearsall, San Francisco | Gunshot wound | Schedule to be announced

On Saturday, 49ers rookie Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during an armed robbery. Fortunately, the gunshot wound was not fatal. Pearsall’s well-being is the most important thing and the good news is that he is expected to make a full recovery.

It’s hard to speculate on the implications of Pearsall’s injury for fantasy football. The 49ers have placed him on the reserve/non-football injured list, meaning he will miss at least four games.

This may sound optimistic, but we know According to his mother, the bullet missed all of his vital organs. Some might try to use Brian Robinson’s 2022 gunshot wound to create a timeline for Pearsall’s return, but they are different body parts and should not be compared.

Pearsall went undrafted in most redraft leagues; in fact, he was ranked outside of the top 100 WRs in Footballguys’ consensus rankings. His absence could limit Brock Purdy’s potential, as Pearsall’s college tape was full of highlights of big games. Other than that, there’s not much to say about his fantasy football prospects.

RB AJ Dillon, Green Bay | Thorn/shoulder | IR to end of season

One of the more surprising developments last week was the Packers placing AJ Dillon on the season-ending injured list with an injury. Josh Jacobs should be busy. MarShawn Lloyd could be a speculative signing, assuming he gets healthy himself.
