There is also a tournament-record prize money up for grabs. Thanks to an increase of $500,000 from last year, this year’s prize money of $9.5 million is the highest ever at the Women’s Open.

The prize money has increased dramatically since the last Open at St. Andrews in 2013, when Stacy Lewis won $402,583. This year, the winner will receive more than three times that amount, with the total first-place check totaling $1.425 million.

The increase makes the Women’s Open the third most lucrative of the five majors, behind the US Women’s Open ($12 million) and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship ($10.4 million). The Amundi Evian offers $8 million and the Chevron Championship $7.9 million.
