Indiana Fever vs Las Vegas Aces recap, Caitlin Clark stats tonight

The Indiana Fever almost made a comeback, but on Friday night they lost to the Las Vegas Aces 78-74.

Caitlin Clark was pointless for part of the third quarter, but then she started scoring, scoring 14 points in that quarter alone. She finished the game with 18 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 20 points.

Record breaker: Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark breaks Alyssa Thomas’ WNBA single-season assist record

The Fever had a chance to tie the game, but Aliyah Boston missed a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left. Chelsea Gray made both free throw attempts to extend the lead to 5. Temi Fagbenle made a layup with 4 seconds left. But Gray went back to the free throw line and made 1 of 2 attempts.

Caitlin Clark finished with 18 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 20 points.

Aces 78, Fever 74

Aliyah Boston hit a jump shot at 2:25 to bring Indiana within 2 points. A’ja Wilson, the two-time MVP who is the clear favorite to win her third award this season, stepped up to the free throw line at 2:05 and made both attempts.

Caitlin Clark made a layup at 1:48 to cut Las Vegas’ lead to 72-70. Indiana got the ball back and Clark attempted a three-pointer but couldn’t find the bottom of the net. Kelsey Plum made a great three-pointer with 56 seconds left. Damiris Dantas answered with a basket at 0:42.2. She now has 9 points.

Aces 75, Fever 72

The Fever haven’t scored a field goal in 9:41 minutes. Free throw shooting was also a problem tonight. Indiana made 9 of 18 (50%).

Aces 69, Fever 64

Damiris Dantas tied the score at 60-60 with a three-pointer at 9:41. Chelsea Gray converted a layup at 8:26 to put Las Vegas back in the lead. Kelsey Plum hit a three-pointer at 7:33 to extend the lead to 65-60.

Aces 65, fever 60

Caitlin Clark turned it on in the third quarter. She scored 14 points in that quarter alone. She also had 7 assists and 4 rebounds. The Fever are back in the game.

Aces 60, fever 57

Caitlin Clark scored her first points of the game with a layup at 7:40. She has 7 assists. Clark hit a deep 3-pointer at 5:25, her first of the night. Chelsea Gray answered with a 3-pointer of her own.

Clark responded with a jump shot at 4:59. She now has 7 points and 7 assists. Clark scored another basket at 3:18.

Indiana narrowed the gap to 4 with Clark’s basket at 2:09. It is now at 11.

Aces 56, Fever 52

Las Vegas opened the second half with a 5-0 run.

Kelsey Mitchell already has 19 points (3 of 6 three-point shots). Damiris Dantas is next with 5 points.

Caitlin Clark has 6 assists but has not scored a point yet.

Caitlin Clark is just one whistle away from a game suspension.

The Fever rookie picked up her sixth technical foul of the season on Friday night against the Las Vegas Aces. She hit the post after a foul was called against her, resulting in both a personal foul and a technical foul.

Las Vegas took the lead again with a 3-pointer from Kelsey Plum at 8:06. Tiffany Hayes then scored for the Aces.

Kelsey Mitchell answered with a basket at 7:20. Iowa’s Megan Gustafson hit a three-pointer at 6:46. Las Vegas turned the tide with an 11-9 run to start the second quarter. At 5:27, Mitchell sank a three-pointer to cut the Aces’ lead to 30-25. She followed with a jump shot at 4:55.

Caitlin Clark broke the single-season assists record previously held by Alyssa Thomas of the Connecticut Sun.

The Fever opened the second quarter with a 7-0 run. Temi Fagbenle scored Indiana’s first points of the quarter with a layup, followed by two consecutive baskets from Damiris Dantas.

Fever 20, Aces 19

Caitlin Clark remained pointless in the first quarter. However, she had 3 assists.

Indiana sinks 38% of its shots, Las Vegas comes in at 39%.

Aliyah Boston opened the game with a jump shot. She has 4 points so far. Kelsey Mitchell leads the Fever with 6 points. Caitlin Clark has 3 assists (315 on the season).
