Increased fire danger in western Texoma this afternoon

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – Good morning, Texoma! Today will be another day for the season in this area. Temperatures will be around 27 degrees by midday and highs in the afternoon will be just above 30 degrees. Throughout the day, skies will remain sunny with southerly winds of 8 to 15 mph. One thing to watch for is an increased fire danger in western Texoma this afternoon as relative humidity levels will drop below -10 degrees at the peak heat of the day. This will favor conditions for fires to spread, so it’s best to avoid any outdoor fires.

Similar weather forecasts are expected for Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be between 30 and 35 degrees on both days, with predominantly sunny weather in the region.

Our pattern will change a bit as we move into the weekend as warming begins on Friday. Highs on Friday will reach the upper 90s, and then we could see triple digit temperatures on Saturday. While it won’t break any records, it will be well above average for this time of year.

No rain is expected now through Friday, but scattered showers could move into Texoma this weekend. The earliest we could see would be Saturday night, but we’re more likely to see showers on Sunday. Rainfall across the region will be scattered, so only a handful of people will see rain.

I wish you a wonderful day!
