NORTH TEXAS — First, the tropical depression at altitude is now moving into southern Texas with a lot of deep moisture and even triggered some showers and storms on Monday.

Expect more afternoon opportunities every day over the next few days.

Next up: Another tropical depression could form and move into Texas, potentially increasing the chance of rain later this week. Confidence on this is lower, so I’ve held off on increasing the chance of rain for now until there is more agreement between the major models.

The high-resolution future forecast continues to show good signs of sudden showers and thunderstorms over the next few afternoons, but on Tuesday the areas south of the i20 look to be perhaps slightly more affected than on Monday.

The ongoing trend from the European model shows the cold front moving into the region on Friday afternoon along with showers and storms. With the upper layer disturbance in the jet stream further north, the front will not necessarily bring drier air or a big drop in temperatures yet, but possibly further changes with a reinforcing load of drier air behind another light front on the following Monday.
