Ilona Maher, Olympic medalist from Vermont, makes her debut on Dancing with the Stars tonight

The 33rd season of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on ABC22, with an all-star new cast including Vermont’s Ilona Maher, who won the bronze medal in women’s rugby at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Maher – the show’s first rugby player – will team up with Alan Bersten, a Latin and ballroom dancer who won season 28 of DWTS with “The Bachelorette” star Hannah Brown.

According to ABC, Maher and Bersten’s first dance will be a cha-cha to “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” by Shania Twain.

Maher has been a social media sensation since returning from the Paris Olympics, appearing on late-night talk shows and posing for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.

Other stars competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy include “Real Housewives” star Phaedra Parks, two-time Super Bowl champion Danny Amendola, former “Bachelor” star Joey Graziadei, actress Chandler Kinney and Anna Delvey, the infamous so-called “fake heiress” whose financial crimes and lavish lifestyle inspired the Netflix series “Inventing Anna.”

Alfonso Ribeiro and co-host Julianne Hough will return for season 33, as will judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough.
