IID opens reservations for tree program | Local news

THE CENTER– The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) announced Tuesday, August 13, that reservations are now available for its Tree for All program. The program is open to residential customers in the Imperial Valley and eastern Coachella Valley.

A total of 1,000 trees will be planted as part of the program.

IID account holders can register for their free shade tree by clicking Here or go to https://iidtreeforall.org

Customers can reserve a free tree to be planted at their home to maximize energy savings. A valid, active IID Electricity Contract account is required. Reservations are limited to one tree per account every 12 months.

The Free Residential Shade Tree Program is one of the many community service programs IID offers to its energy customers. Trees can reduce energy costs by up to 20% and provide many other community benefits.

The trees available through this program have been carefully selected for their unique characteristics and ability to survive in the warm desert climate of our region. This initiative is a testament to IID’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability, reducing energy consumption and improving the quality of life of residents in our communities through the free distribution of shade trees.

IID launched the Tree for All program in 2022, which received overwhelming enthusiasm from our customers and achieved full enrollment in the first week. We are proud to continue this successful initiative.

Information about the Tree for All program, as well as an information sheet, brochures and a helpful video on watering trees, can be found at: www.iid.com/treeforall.
