If the 199-yard game doesn’t show up, I’m comfortable with the Ravens’ offense. “I don’t know what else to say.”

He did it. The 247-pound back burst through the open hole, reaching a top speed of 21.29 mph, according to Next Gen Stats, and outrunning Bills defensive backs.

The score in the first game was a statement of how the game would go. Henry rushed for 199 rushing yards and scored on 24 carries, while adding three catches for 10 yards and another touchdown – his first receiving score since 2019.

Sunday marked Henry’s seventh career game with over 190 rush yards, which is the third-highest since 1950 (behind only Eric Dickerson and Adrian Peters, 8 yards each).

“If today doesn’t show you that I’m used to it (and) that I’m comfortable, then I don’t know what else to say,” Henry said of his fit on the Ravens’ offense. “It was fun. We didn’t start the way we wanted to, but like I told the guys, that’s why I came here, because of the culture. We have our backs against the wall (at) 0-2, (but) We just kept believing; We kept fighting and now we’re back to where we want to be and let’s keep building on that in all three phases.”

In Week 1 against Kansas City, Henry rushed for 46 yards and a score on 13 carries. He has been climbing ever since. In Week 2, he rushed for 84 yards and a TD. Last week against Dallas he scored 151 points and two touchdowns.

Henry’s presence in the backfield makes life difficult for defenders. According to Next Gen Stats, all of Henry’s 199 rush yards came with seven or fewer defenders in the box (three rushes for 0 yards against a stacked box).

This fact underscores the versatility of Baltimore’s offense. If the defense puts more tacklers in the box, Jackson can go elsewhere. If they play loose, the Ravens can ram the game down their throats with a 250-pound sledgehammer.

“Man, Derrick Henry, he opens the play-action game,” Jackson said. “Guys running to the ball are trying to stop him from getting into the backfield, and our offensive line just did a great job of creating lanes for Derrick. Our receivers also did a great job blocking the field and letting Derrick do his job.” Shout out to the tight ends too.

The Ravens rolled up a total of 427 yards on Sunday night and were previously 3-0 against the Bills. With a versatile offense and a defense that keeps coming back even when the score is 2-2, John Harbaugh’s club is one of the most dangerous in the AFC.
