I walked, stood and danced in these 4 shoes at my Italian wedding

I recently got married and I don’t think I’ll ever stop talking about it. It’s arguably one of the most important and beautiful days in a person’s life. Between celebrating with all your loved ones, feeling your most beautiful and committing to a lifetime of love for the person you want to be with forever, it really is Is like a fairytale (and mine actually was one, because come on, I married the love of my life in an Italian villa!!).

But like most fairy tales, everything can’t and won’t go perfectly. You just have to be able to laugh about it (which I did!) and try to avoid the things you can avoid, like sore feet after standing for hours at the rehearsal dinner or walking down the aisle.

Luckily, I didn’t have any foot pain as I love and trust a few shoe brands when I have to stand for hours: M.Gemi, Cariuma, Scarlett Chase and more. Each brand had a wide selection, so I picked out a variety of styles like typical white wedding shoes with heels, comfortable, trendy sandals that went perfectly with a silky white dress for the rehearsal dinner, and cool sneakers (yes, really) to have on hand when I said my vows. Ohhhhh.

Because comfortable shoes are a must for all occasions, not Only Weddings, I decided to put together the four wedding shoes that I would wear again and again – in fact, I even wore them after I walked down the aisle, so each one is not only comfortable, but also a worthwhile investment.

Emmy London Harriet Mid Heel Pumps

EmmyLondon

I’ve had my eye on these Emmy London pumps for years. Kate Middleton is a fan of the brand, and if she wears something, I’m sure I’ll love it too (example: her mother jeans or pleated skirts!). Of course, wedding shoes have a different meaning than an everyday purchase, but I knew the simple, clean design, interchangeable straps, and 4-inch heel of these Harriet pumps were exactly what I wanted to wear with my simple wedding dress.

I wore them for most of the wedding – which lasted until the early hours of the morning – and my feet didn’t hurt. Although I was torn between a strapped and non-strapped model, I’m glad I chose the former as it kept the shoes securely on my feet. They’re quite an expense, but when you see the quality in real life, you’ll realize they’re worth it. Finally, a shoe fit for a royal and a bride like me? Now that’s what I call soulmates.

Scarlett Chase Coco 45 sandals

Scarlett Chase

Scarlett Chase is a brand that’s under the radar and about to take off—I can feel it. I’m obsessed with the brand’s boots, which are basically as comfortable as sneakers but have a game-changing sole that’s a must-try (trust me!), so I knew I wanted to wear a pair of heels from the brand on my special day (or days). For my rehearsal dinner, I chose the Coco 45 sandals, a simple but on-trend metallic heel sandal that I paired with a long, white silk dress from L’agence. They were shipped directly to Italy, so I didn’t have time to test them out before the big event, but honestly, I didn’t need to. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on, with a rubber outsole that felt stable and an arch-supporting foam footbed that made me feel like I was walking on clouds.

Cariuma White Leather/Ice Salvas LWG Sneakers

Cariuma

I’m pretty much Cariuma’s biggest fan. I swear by the Brazilian brand’s sneakers for anything and everything, so when my husband and I got the opportunity to get custom sneakers with our initials and wedding date, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. I’ve tried countless Salvas (it’s become my favorite style), so I knew these wedding-inspired kicks didn’t need to be worn in advance. I packed them in my suitcase, took them to the dance floor, and wore them on our wine tour the next day. Having an unexpected (!!!) pair of shoes on hand for post-wedding festivities is basically a necessity, and white sneakers paired with a wedding dress are a lick, Fashion girlies.

M.Gemi the Valeria Heels

M. Gemi

When I think of the perfect heel shoe that goes with everything, these M.Gemis come to mind. The versatile shade, super easy silhouette, and comfortable heel that I walked for miles in are key to making these shoes stand out from the rest. I wore them to my civil ceremony in New York City—which meant I really walked around in them a lot—and they passed all the tests. Much like my Scarlett Chase heels, I didn’t have time to break them in, but that wasn’t necessary; the heels were comfortable from the moment I put them on until I took them off. I also took them with me to Italy in case I needed a new heel for the wedding (which I didn’t because my Emmy Londons were so amazing), but I’m a firm believer that everyone should have a versatile option like these on hand. You’re welcome in advance.
