Hyderabad: A local court has granted interim bail to former deputy commissioner of police Bhujanga Rao, who was arrested in connection with the wiretapping case.
The court passed the order on Monday, granting Bhujanga Rao 15 days’ bail to undergo medical treatment for a heart ailment that he said he had been suffering from for some time.
On Rao’s application, the court granted bail on medical and humanitarian grounds, recognising the complexity of his medical condition, which may also require hospitalisation. The court also directed that Rao should not leave Hyderabad during this period.
Bhujanga Rao, who has been in custody since his arrest on March 23, is accused of being involved in a conspiracy to tap the phones of politicians – including current Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy – as well as industrialists and private individuals.
