This summer, 11 Hobart and William Smith students donated their time to the Geneva community, getting involved with local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club and Geneva 2030. Since 2011, 92 interns have completed over 22,000 hours of community service through the HWS Summer of Service program, making a significant difference in the lives of local residents.
Supported by alumni and generous grants, the interns took on a variety of roles, from creating children’s programs at the Boys and Girls Club to assisting with office work at the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL). Through this experience, students were able to develop leadership skills and build a deeper connection to the community.
The success of the program was highlighted during a Zoom presentation on August 7, where interns shared their experiences and underscored the lasting impact of the program on both students and the Geneva community.
