Husband and roommate charged in death of Upstate woman missing since August

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said a woman missing since August has been found dead in Pickens County.

The Pendleton City Police Department said 20-year-old Jessica Barnes was last seen on August 1st.

According to the Pendleton Police Department, multiple agencies were called to the Twin Lake wooded area in Pickens County where remains were found and identified as human on Thursday, September 19th.

On Oct. 1, officials said the remains were identified as Jessica Barnes. The cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to strangulation and the manner of death was classified as a homicide.

An arrest warrant said Jessica’s husband, Brandon Barnes, strangled her with his arms. It was also mentioned that two roommates, Kendall Mims and Victoria Tippett, helped Brandon get rid of Jessica’s body.

Brandon Barnes was charged with murder, while roommates Mims and Tippett were charged with aiding and abetting, obstruction of justice and felony false imprisonment, according to the department.
