Hurricane forecasters monitor systems in the Gulf and Atlantic |

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, a low-pressure system is likely to dissipate with a front over the Gulf of Mexico after two meteorologically observed systems dissipated in the Atlantic Ocean.

The system, lurking on the fringes of the Gulf states, brought showers and thunderstorms to Louisiana on Thursday and will continue through Friday, hurricane forecasters said. Significant development is unlikely as upper-level winds are expected to slow further development of the disturbance.

The system is likely to combine with another frontal system on Friday or Saturday, dropping rain across the region.

The probability that the problem will occur within two days or a week is 10%.

Two systems that were in the Atlantic on Thursday have since dissipated, but a new low-pressure area had formed on Friday morning.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic System

Hurricane forecasters have discovered a new low-pressure system over the eastern tropical Atlantic, bringing minimal showers and thunderstorms.

If it develops at all, it will likely be slow as the disturbance remains in the same area until early next week. Hurricane forecasters expect it to move west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic by midweek.

The probability that the system will develop within a few days is almost 0%, and the probability that it will form within a week is 10%.

Northwest Atlantic System

A low pressure system with strong winds is located several hundred miles east of the Mid-Atlantic coast.

The disturbance is producing showers and thunderstorms that are gradually taking on a “non-tropical structure,” hurricane forecasters said. There is a slim chance the disturbance will develop subtropical qualities as it approaches cold waters Friday evening and overnight. During this time, the low pressure system will move north-northeastward off the coast of the northern United States at 10 to 15 mph.

According to meteorologists, there is a 20% chance that the system will develop in the next two days and next week.

Wave in the Caribbean Sea

A tropical wave causes heavy rains and thunderstorms near the coast of Belize and the Mexican Yucatan Peninsula.

Meteorologists expect the hurricane wave to move across Central America and southeastern Mexico until Friday evening. Slow development is possible over the weekend as the system approaches the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

The probability that the wave will develop within two days is almost 0% and within the next week it is 20%.
