Hunter Woodhall took home his first gold medal on Friday, winning the gold medal for Team USA alongside his wife, Tara Davis-Woodhall. Woodhall, a three-time Paralympian, sprinted the Class 62 400-meter race in 46.36 seconds to win gold for Team USA.

Shortly after the win, Woodhall ran to his wife, Olympic long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall, to celebrate the victory. Just a month ago, the roles were reversed when Davis-Woodhall won gold in the long jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics and ran to her husband to celebrate.

Photos of the couple thrilled spectators. The two athletes showed their support and love for each other during the games. Woodhall and Davis-Woodhall, who met seven years ago at a track and field competition in Idaho, married in 2022.

Woodhall overtook Germany’s Johannes Floors and Dutchman Olivier Hendriks to take first place in the 400m race in the T62 class, which is run by double amputee para-athletes who run with prosthetic legs. Floors holds the world and Paralympic record in the event, so Woodhall’s win was a coup. The victory is his first ever gold medal, just weeks after his wife won hers.

Woodhall has now won five Paralympic medals: silver and bronze in Rio and bronze in the same event in Tokyo. He also took bronze in the mixed 4x400m relay in Paris.
