Huawei’s triple-folding phone has reportedly been spotted in the wild and is expected to go into production soon

It looks like Huawei’s triple-folding phone could soon see the light of day. After being spotted in the hands of the company’s former CEO Richard Yu, a new tip from reliable informant Digital Chat Station on Chinese social media platform Weibo suggests that Huawei’s triple-folding phone will soon enter mass production.

The image of Richar Yu holding a tri-fold phone circulating on Chinese social media platforms gives us a vague look at the device. It is speculated that there will be a punch-hole selfie camera in the center of the leftmost inner display.

The fold is visible on both inner displays, which is not surprising. Notably, the phone will have two hinges for the inner displays, allowing them to be stacked on top of each other. It is believed that Huawei’s tri-fold phone could have a 10-inch inner display and could feature a premium price tag as well as cutting-edge technologies.

It is reported that this triple-folding phone could be powered by HiSilicon’s Kirin 9 series chipset. There are rumors that Huawei’s triple-folding phone could launch sooner than the Huawei Mate 70 series. GizmoChina suggests that the Huawei Mate 70 series is unlikely to launch until Q4 2024, suggesting that we could be closer to the launch of the world’s first triple-folding phone than we think.

Furthermore, Digital Chat Station suggests that the tri-fold phone spotted in the hands of Richar Yu is the prototype used during the research and development phase. The phone is expected to launch in China, as Huawei phones have not been officially available in the US for some time now. Other regions are also expected to be excluded from the launch.

As for the launch date, the tri-fold phone could launch between September and October this year. For now, we recommend you take every piece of information with skepticism.
