    The 2024 Presidents Cup is just around the corner.

    The four-day men’s match play event, which pits a team of U.S. golfers against a team of international golfers (excluding European), begins Thursday at Royal Montreal Golf Club and is the 15th edition of the biennial event. The United States has dominated the Presidents Cup with a record of 12-1-1 after winning the 2022 event at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

    Some of the biggest names in golf will be represented: World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler, along with Xander Schauffele (No. 2) and Collin Morikawa (No. 4) lead the U.S. team, and Hideki Matsuyama (No. 7) and Adam Scott (No. 18) lead the international team.

    Coverage of the 2024 Presidents Cup will air on NBC and Golf Channel. Golf Channel will broadcast the first two days, beginning Thursday at 11:30 a.m. ET. NBC will broadcast the final two days.

    The Presidents Cup pits a team of golfers from the USA against an international team from around the world (excluding Europe). Another competition, the Ryder Cup, which takes place every two years, pits the USA against golfers from Europe.

    The Presidents Cup was first held in 1994 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia. The venues for the competitions alternate between US and foreign locations.

    What makes the Presidents Cup unique is that there is no prize money or purse, and players are not paid for their participation. Instead, each golfer donates a portion of the proceeds generated to the charity of their choice. More than 475 charities in 18 different countries have benefited from the Presidents Cup, with more than $56.4 million raised.

    When does the Presidents Cup start?

    The 2024 Presidents Cup will begin on Thursday, September 26, with the opening ceremony and first round matches (four-ball). Barring weather disruptions, the event will conclude on Sunday, September 29, with final round matches (singles).

    Where will the Presidents Cup be played this year?

    The Presidents Cup takes place in Canada at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Île Bizard, Quebec, about 20 miles west of downtown Montreal.
