With less than two months until the November 5 presidential election, this is the perfect time to make sure you are registered to vote or to check if you need to update your registration.

When is the deadline for voter registration?

To be eligible to vote in the 2024 presidential election on November 5, you must be registered to vote by Monday, October 7.

How do I register to vote in Arizona?

If you have an Arizona driver’s license or identification card, you can register to vote online at Arizona.Vote.

Otherwise, you must register using a paper voter registration form. You can mail or drop off the form at your county clerk’s office.

If you register using a state paper form, you will see a section of the form that requires proof of citizenship. The U.S. Supreme Court recently limited the ability of Arizona citizens to register to vote without citizenship documents, so you must provide proof of your citizenship status to register using this form. Otherwise, your registration will be rejected. Make sure you include a photocopy of one of these documents:

  • Your Arizona driver’s license.
  • Your non-operational Arizona ID card.
  • Your birth certificate.
  • The photo identification page of your U.S. passport or passport card.
  • Your naturalization documents.
  • Your foreigner registration number.
  • Your identification card from the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs or your tribe.

You can register to vote in some elections, including presidential and congressional elections, even if you don’t submit citizenship documents. However, you must use a federal form to register. You will be considered a “federal-only” voter and will not be able to cast any votes in the upcoming election.
