After updating to iOS 17.6.1, my iPhone started randomly rebooting. What was initially a minor annoyance quickly rendered my phone nearly unusable. While unexpected and concerning, it’s worth noting that this iOS update brought with it a whole host of problems, from wonky functionality to poor battery performance. There’s a good chance this is a software issue that we can fix. Let’s try some troubleshooting steps before we resort to costly repairs.

How to stop iOS 17.6.1 reboot loop

1. Force restart your iPhone

The easiest way is to perform a force restart. This is a great way to fix any minor bugs underlying this problem and, what’s more, it won’t harm your device.

1. First press the button and then release it quickly. Increase volume Button.
2. Then press the button and release it quickly. Decrease volume Button.
3. Finally, press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

2. Reset all iPhone settings

NOTE

This will erase all of your iPhone’s settings, including Wi-Fi networks and passwords, and VPNs, but your media and contacts will remain.

3. Check the battery status

Once the battery level reaches 80 percent, Apple typically recommends a replacement. The cost can range from $70 to $100 depending on the iPhone mode, although AppleCare+ members don’t have to pay anything.

1. Go to Settings and scroll down to battery.
2. Open Battery status and charging.
3. Check the Maximum capacity Section – on older models it may be Battery status.

4. Install available iOS updates

If you’ve been struggling with sporadic reboots on your iPhone for some time, check for stable iOS updates available. Apple may have already fixed this known issue in later iOS versions.

1. Go to Settings > Generally.
2. Open Software update and tap Install now whether an update is available.

5. Reset iPhone to factory settings

NOTE

Be sure to back up your iPhone before starting these solutions.
