How the Emerson-Pulisic pair ‘changed the balance’ for Fonseca’s Milan

In recent years, AC Milan’s left-wing team has dominated the headlines. Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez have been crucial for the Rossoneri and have often been decisive at key stages, but the story has not been the same so far.

Headlines have been made about Theao this season, but not for the right reasons – most notably the cooling break incident and general concerns about her performances so far this season with Leao couldn’t prove himself until now.

On the other side, or to put it another way, on the other side are Christian Pulisic and Emerson Royal, who grabbed headlines in the derby for all the right reasons – they ignored Emerson’s mistake in the first half that led to Inter’s goal.

Emerson delivered five crosses into the box on Sunday, and rather than lose confidence after his mistake, he used it to drive forward the strikers, something the Gazzetta dello Sport article (see below) praises him for. Overall, the Brazilian attacked more strongly than his counterpart and therefore had a greater impact.

Then we have Pulisic, the scorer of the opening goal and the Player with the highest collective contribution since his arrival. Everyone already knows about his influence, but his involvement and the emerging partnership with the Brazilian changes the balance for Milan.

There used to be great expectations on the left side and they delivered regularly, but with the right side providing more balance, the Diavolo are a much stronger team.
