In airplane mode, hidden in the trash can: How a woman found her phone in the toilet of a Bengaluru cafe

The incident reportedly occurred Friday morning at the Third Wave Coffee branch

New Delhi:

An employee of a famous cafe in Bengaluru was arrested for allegedly hiding a mobile phone in the dustbin of the ladies’ restroom to record videos.

The man, in his early twenties, hails from Bhadravathi in Karnataka.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Third Wave Coffee branch on BEL Road on Friday morning.

The Instagram account “Gangs Of Cinepur” with over 90,000 followers shared a story on their account, narrating what happened at the outlet.

“I was at a Third Wave Coffee branch in Bengaluru this (Friday) morning when a woman found a phone hidden in the trash can in the washroom. The video recording had been on for about two hours and pointed at the toilet seat,” the Instagram story said.

The story went on to say that the phone was in airplane mode “so it doesn’t make any noise.”

“It was carefully hidden in the garbage bag, in which a hole was made so that only the camera is visible,” it continued.

“This was so horrible to watch. I will be vigilant in every restroom I use from now on, no matter how well known the cafe or restaurant chain is. I ask all of you to do the same. This is disgusting,” the story said.
