Homeless man arrested for sexual assault in Upper East Side

A homeless man was arrested after sexually assaulting a woman on the Upper East Side near Gracie Mansion, police said.

On Tuesday, police identified the man as 30-year-old Quincy Burks.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old woman who reported having been sexually assaulted.

A witness said he heard screaming around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, caught Burks in the act and chased him from the scene.

According to police, a doorman on the Upper East Side heard a young woman screaming for help. When he rushed to her, he saw Burks.

“I saw this man running towards York. I tried to tell him, ‘Stop, otherwise who are you?’ but he just kept running,” the bouncer said.

According to investigators, the 19-year-old woman did not know Burks.

“According to her, the guy tried to put his hands down her pants. It was just sad,” the bouncer said.

The woman was allegedly grabbed from behind, dragged and sexually assaulted near the corner of 90th and York Street, a few blocks from Gracie Mansion.

Burks fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Burks was charged with sexual abuse and sexual assault.
