Homeless man arrested after threatening police near bike path

A homeless man was arrested after he harassed police near the Riverwalk bike path.

Jamestown Police say that officials told the staff of the Jamestown Development Ministry during a work call when Department of Defense employees found a tent right next to the bike path near Eighth Street on Monday morning.

While the officers spoke to the 36-year-old Autumn Simmons At the scene, according to JPD, she became rowdy and pushed an officer. Officers checked one of the tents at the scene because they had information that Autumn had a small child with her in the woods, but no child was found.

While the officers spoke to the 52-year-old Robin Brownwho was in the tent allegedly pulled out a large knife. Brown was ordered to drop the knife, but he got up and walked toward the officers instead.

Officers held Brown at gunpoint as he fled into a dense wooded area.

Officers pursued Brown into the woods, secured a perimeter and requested assistance from other law enforcement agencies.

Brown was found by Jamestown and taken into custody K9 Officer Force and his K9 Partner, Kal. He is charged with threatening a police officer, resisting arrest, second-degree obstruction of public order, and second-degree criminal contempt. Simmons was charged with second-degree obstruction of public order.

Both were taken to the city jail and held there pending arraignment.
